The water is shallow and of course gets deeper, lots of coral. If the goal is to have reef snorkeling steps from your longer go with either the Tabyana excursion or take your chances with Infinity. I find Bananarama to be a bit more of a circus, some days if feels closed in due to the narrow bit of beach and so many boats in the water. I find all the food in West Bay to be Americanized, it is hit or miss, as is the service. If you have a chair at any resort all you need to is walk down the beach to snorkle the reef. The easy access, boat free, reef snorkeling is just past Infinity's L shaped dock, most of the beach and the sea are public so no worries about jumping any fences. There have been posts about restrictions from pools, one need contact the resort to find out what the day pass includes. One can see the sea from Infinity's pool, not so with Paradise's pool. Infinity's day passes are first come first serve and limited. Bananarama looks like it might be a little more lively and I saw whole red snapper on their bar menu (The Thirsty Turtle). Thinking about starting at Bananarama but want to snorkel from shore - reviews say the best place to snorkel is in front of Infinity Bay or farther down the beach toward Grand Roatan Resort.
